Summer is in full swing and that means plenty of fish still to be caught and plenty of August fishing tournaments to be entered. List of Fishing Tournaments in August
Casco Bay Bluefin Bonanza Tuna Tournament
When: July 31 to August 3
Where:Sprint Point Marina at Casco Bay, Maine
Who: Serious Anglers
Technically this tournament kicks off on the last day of July with a lobster bake, but the fishing begins on the first of August. The tournament is open to all those with an Atlantic Tunas General permit or HMS Headboat/Charter permit with commercial endorsement. The tournament is also first come first serve. Money from the raffle, auction, and sponsors will go toward a scholarship fund for Maine’s community college and technical school system.

Sarasota Slam Inshore Tournament
When:August 9 to August 10
Where:Marina Jack, Sarasota, Florida
Who:Inshore Anglers
This inshore tournament will focus on snook, trout, and redfish with emphasis on the length of these fish. People can enter individually or in teams of up to 6 anglers. Extra proceeds will go the Cystic Fibrosis foundation. Sarasota Slam also hosts fishing tournaments for offshore and junior anglers on other dates.

Pirate’s Cove Billfish Tournament
When:August 13 to August 16
Where:Oregon Inlet, NC
Who:Anglers & Junior Anglers Teams (No limits on the number per team)
Not only is this August fishing tournament about reeling in the best catch, but it is also a full-blown event. There will be food, drinks, and entertainment on deck to please everybody, so you can easily make it a family affair. Different cash prizes are available for different categories.

Virginia Beach Billfish Tournament
When:August 21 to August 24
Where:Southside Marina Virginia Beach, Virginia
Who:Invitation Only
This is the 16th time this event has taken place. Not only is the big family fishing tournament a fierce competition but it also has become a fun outing for its dock parties and live music. Unfortunately, the tournament is by invitation only, so you may have to do some fenagling to get on the list.
