What do you wear on a deep-sea fishing trip

Deep-sea fishing is more than just a fishing rod and a boat in the middle of the ocean. Whether you are ready for your first deep-sea fishing trip or you are an experienced deep-sea fisherman, you want to wear the proper saltwater fishing apparel.

UV Protection Apparel

A deep-sea fishing trip usually involves a long day and therefore a lot of sun. You need to wear UV protection apparel in order to stay safe during your trip. Beyond wearing sunscreen, at Gillz Gear we highly recommend you wear a UV fishing shirt, a hat, and sunglasses. Experienced fishermen will probably have all of these and a fishing mask. If it is colder, consider a UV hoodie as well. Even if the sun isn’t shining brightly, it doesn’t mean you can’t get burned.

Waterproof Clothing

It should also come as no surprise that you are bound to get at least damp during your adventure. Rather than suffer through wet clothing all day or night, performance fishing clothing like saltwater fishing shirts and moisture wicking fishing shirts will help keep you dry. It is important to note that the combination of the sea breeze and the ocean spray can make it colder than being on land so bring waterproof layers like a windbreaker or poncho, especially if you don’t have a moisture wicking fishing shirt.

Don’t forget about your feet. If you are a first-time deep-sea fisher, go for shoes that are waterproof and have good traction. A good pair of sneakers may do okay for a one-time trip. More experienced fishermen often wear specialty fishing shoes of their choosing that can vary from sandals to boots.

In order to get the most out of your deep-sea fishing experience, you should wear the proper performance fishing clothing. This clothing will be able to keep your safe and dry so that you can make the most of your deep-sea fishing trip.
