“Crazy” Alberto was born in Hong Kong but quickly moved to Brazil for his formative years as a kid. He would wander barefoot through the lush tropical environment of the Amazon and surf fish the various tropical species of fish endemic to the area. However, his passion took off when he moved to New York City. Alberto only spoke Portuguese at the time, and the city was rampant with gang violence. For the best possible escape, Alberto explored the large bays, inlets, coves, and beaches of the New York area. And then it happened. He snagged his first striped bass. This is where things went “crazy.” He has since become a renowned surf angler and is the holder of the IGFA world record for striped bass on an 8-pound test line. Alberto is a published writer in the New York area sportfishing magazines, plus the nationals like Field & Stream, Saltwater Sportsman, the New York Times, New York Daily News, Newsday, and the New York Post. In addition, he is a popular seminar speaker and a fishing show guest speaker. As a visionary entrepreneur, Alberto founded Tactical Anglers to help avid anglers access the highest quality fishing products while maintaining a solid relationship with his retail partners.
